Smoking Hot Engagement Session
June 24, 2009Beautiful Bride at Mercer Arboretum
June 16, 2009We had an AMAZING time with Brittany while shooting her bridal portraits. We went to Mercer Arboretum and the weather was PERFECT. This was right after the large amount of rainfall and the bog finally had water in it. YEA!!!! We have wanted for a long time, to take a bride to the bog for some edgy photos. Brittany was all for it, no matter if she has to work around the mud, but luckily we were able to avoid the mud. She was such a trooper and SO much fun!! We had a great time. Thanks Brittany for making our day so WONDERFUL!!
Nickie and Brad’s Engagement
May 28, 2009Nickie and Brad were an amazing couple and we had a BLAST at their engagement session. We did some photos of Tyler with his Mom and Dad. He was such a trooper and was so much fun! We went to Mercer Arboretum and the grounds were beautiful. They were great in front of the camera, and our job was so easy. Nickie and Brad are a couple that everyone can tell how much they love each other, and their photos say it all. We are stoked for their wedding on July 3, at Safari Texas. Hope you enjoy the pictures as much as we enjoyed shooting them.
Kelly and Will’s Wedding Day
May 20, 2009Westlake Club was the perfect setting for the perfect couple. Kelly and Will are an AMAZING couple that are so in love! Their love for each other is so very real and you cannot miss it. We have had an amazing time with them throughout the wedding process. We feel like we have made life long friends with this family. Kelly’s Mom, Anne, is the most incredible person who always kept us laughing. Every daughter should be so lucky to have a Mom like Anne. Cristina, from Fresh Blooms of Houston, was the master creator of the flowers, and boy oh boy they were GORGEOUS! This was a wedding that everyone had a blast and the time was over before we knew it. We were so honored that we were the chosen ones to be a part of their magical day.
Kelly and Will, we wish you a lifetime of happiness and love and may you love each other more in 50 years than you did the day you said, “I do!”
Kelly and Mike’s wedding at Texas Old Town
April 24, 2009We had the pleasure of being a part of Kelly and Mike’s wedding and had a blast being there. They were married at Texas Old Town in Kyle, Texas which is right down the road from Austin, Texas. This place was like something out of an old town western movie….SO NEAT! The weather was not their friend, but at the last minute they were able to move the ceremony back outdoors to a beautiful grassy area. This was a perfect place for a wedding! This was a great wedding and everyone was ready to party. Kelly and Mike were so much fun to work with and we wish them a lifetime of happiness filled with abundance of love.
Kelly’s Bridal at Mercer
April 10, 2009We had the privilege of doing Kelly’s bridal portraits at Mercer Arboretum. It was a beautiful day, but not as beautiful as Kelly! She was amazing in front of the camera, and we are very excited about the outcome of the day. Kelly and her Mom, Ann, were so much fun and kept the day full of laughter. Keep on the outlook for some post of Kelly’s and Will’s beautiful wedding.
Alana at Mercer Arboretum
March 27, 2009WOW! What a beautiful model with an amazing personality! These photos were taken at the model shoot at Mercer Arboretum. Alana was so easy to work with and can we say, BEAUTIFUL!! The pictures show her flamboyant personality and true ability in front of the camera. We are sure you will be seeing her beautiful face on a magazine cover one day.
Why you call your vendors!
March 25, 2009Becca and I always tell brides in our consultations, whether they book with us or not, to stay in touch with your wedding vendors. It is something that will help make sure that you wont be disappointed on your wedding day. Here is an example. Our daughter, who is getting married in August, had planned to have their rehearsal dinner at a local Mexican restaurant in Katy, TX. (Vida Loca) They had good food, a room for an event like this and quoted the mother of the groom a good price for fajitas, margaritas, beer and desert. We asked if they needed a credit card to hold the reservation. They said no, everything was good. Fast forward to today. We like the place, so as we do with all of our favorite vendors we refer the restaurant to another mother of a groom. She calls us and tells us that the restaurant is now to busy and no longer books the room for parties. She mentions us and they tell her there are no reservations period. Bad News. We call and they verify that we no longer have a reservation of any sort and the manager that did it was no longer there. We ask if they are going to honor the quote and reservation. The answer is NO! WOW, that is bad and could have been a major disaster if 40 people had shown up for a reservation that was now thrown out with no intentions of being honored. I am annoyed but the MOG and the MOB are furious. I cant even imagine if they had found out the night of the rehearsal that there would be no reservation or room booked.
Yes, this really stinks but is exactly why we tell everyone to stay in contact with your vendors and make sure they still have you reserved for your date. It only takes a small amount of time to ensure that everything is going to go “right” on your wedding day. You dont want to be the bride crying while cutting your hastily store bought German Chocolate cake with congratulations written in blue because your baker wrote down the wrong day (true story here) or the manager of Vida Loca in Katy.
Ashleigh from Katy, Texas
March 17, 2009We had the opportunity to do a fun model shoot at Mercer Arboretum. Ashleigh was an absolute blast to work with and talk about a true beauty! She is a natural in front of the camera and so much fun! Ashleigh is a model from our neck of the woods, Katy, Texas. Ashleigh, thanks for allowing us to be a part of this fun day with you.
Valentines Day with Brittany and Kevin
February 16, 2009We could not think of a better way to spend Valentine’s Day than capturing the love of Brittany and Kevin. We went to College Station, home of Texas A&M, to shoot their engagement pictures since they both graduated from A&M. We had a great start at the Dixie Chicken, and then headed to the campus with Research Park being our last location. The weather was not being our friend with tornado sirens going off, thunder, lightning and a chilling rain which had us running for cover. Even though the weather was being a pain it did give us an awesome sky in some of the shots. Brittany and Kevin were troopers through it all and kept on going with our ideas, and made it possible for us to get these amazing shots. We are stoked about their wedding, May 23, 2009 at Cinco Ranch Golf Club. Thanks guys for allowing us to share your Valentine’s Day.
KEEP SMILIN!

Katie & Chris’ E-Session
January 28, 2009We had an amazing time shooting Chris and Katie’s engagement pictures. It was a perfect day for outdoor photos and could not have asked for better weather for the month of January. They were incredible in front of the camera, and we were sure Katie had done some modeling before. She is absolutely gorgeous! Katie and Chris are so much in love and full of personality and it shows in their photos! We wish Chris the best of luck on his last year at LSU, and look forward to sharing their wedding day on July 25 at Safari Texas. Thank you guys for choosing to spend part of your day with us. We had a blast and loved every minute of it!
Random Musings of a Tweet.
January 27, 2009Do you Tweet? I Tweet. Just what the heck is a Tweet.? For those of you that just asked that question and think ole Scott has gone off the deep end, here is the answer. Tweets are the random messages you create on Twitter. They are just little updates of whatever you feel like writing in. Nothing much to them but they seem poised to be the “next big thing” and potentially uprooting the blog. Yea right. It sounds good though and Twitter says it so……
Anyway, since everyone says I should be on Twitter I signed up and have been tweeting off an on. It is just random stuff that I happen to be doing at the moment. Like: sitting here gathering papers for the accountant for taxes, or, its Monday and I dont want to do anything, or, that coffee just cant get done soon enough, or that I am blogging a brides photos or we are on the way to a killer wedding and we are stoked. Real important stuff mostly ;}. I actually set it up to update through my cell phone so you never know what kind of mischief I am into but I can send out a Tweet and everyone will know. At least those that decide to “follow ” me on Twitter will have a glimpse into the life and times of Scott.
So do you Twitter? Do you care? If you want to follow me through the newest thing, you can go to Scotts Twitter Site and “follow” me through the Tweet. Try it, its free. Mine is setup to update my Facebook page also. So if you could care less about Twitter but still want to know what that crazy photographer is doing, join me on Facebook and become friends.
Hope everyone has a great week. Keep an eye out for an update to the Blog about Katie and Chris’s e-session we shot. Some awesome photos.
Keep Smilin!
A Renaissance Affair with Donna and Ryan
January 20, 2009In the last weeks of the Texas Renaissance Festival we photographed Donna and Ryan during their Renaissance style wedding. This was our first time photographing weddings at the TRF and hopefully will not be our last. This was FUN!! Becca and I have been to the festival before but never working as photographers. Donna and Ryan are so nice and we loved being a part of their special event. The service was performed by the festival Cardinal and was a really good service complete with a Celtic Hand Binding. Donna and Ryan had their children as their ring bearer and flower girl. Their son was dressed and a baby dragon and was so cool. Their daughter was dressed as a fairy and was really sweet. All of their wedding party dressed up in the ‘garb’ of the times to make this a truly unique ceremony. They held their wedding at the Kings Chapel which is an ivy covered open structure that is really colorful with the large cross at the front. After it was all done we took Donna and Ryan for a walk and got some cool pics before our day ended with a frosty beverage at the Kings Pub.
One of the Kings guard escorting the ring bearer in the march to the wedding.
The march to the wedding is followed by the bride in a carriage. This was awesome.
Caitlin and Alex, a Bride and her Marine!!
January 13, 2009Just before Christmas we had the honor of photographing Caitlin and Alex’s wedding. Alex is a Marine and had been stationed in Iraq for the last year or so. He was able to get a couple of weeks leave and we did their whirlwind e-session the day after he came Stateside. They held the wedding at the Bolin Chapel in Katy which is part of the First Baptist Church in Katy. It is an amazing little chapel on the church grounds of Katy 1st Baptist.
The flowers provided by Fresh Blooms of Houston were gorgeous(Love your work Christina). Alex gave Caitlin the Manolo Blahnik shoes that were worn in the movie Sex in the City. Talk about a nice pair of shoes that really look good. It all ended up being a fun day with an amazing wedding with some cool shoes.
Country Charm with Kelly & Will!
January 7, 2009Just before the Holidays we had a blast working with Kelly & Will out in Needville. We met them at their home in the country and then went to a little place that had some awesome areas to do their e-session. Will was a little shy at first but you couldn’t tell by looking at their photos. Kelly is a beautiful girl and was full of giggles the entire time. They are super sweet together and it really shows in their photos. From listening to them talk about their wedding it is going to be a blast. We cant wait to be a part of that special day. Keep an eye out for some photos from that party.
Kari & James, a couple of Texas A&M Aggies in love.
December 21, 2008Wow, we had a blast with Kari & James. We took a short trip up to College Station, home of the Texas A & M Aggies. Both Kari and James graduated from A&M and they really wanted to have their e-session done back at the old school. The local weather had been talking about rain and wind all week and we kept hoping that the weather would not be ugly. We ended up with a little breeze but an amazing South Texas fall day with an AWESOME sunset. Kari and James were so much fun and they really opened up to us. They gave us the nickle tour through various parts of the campus and told us about some of the traditions that were part of the areas we visited. A&M has so many amazing places to photograph and we were only able to make it to just a few places during our time there. We were so fortunate that they invited us back to the place that they spent so many days together and we look forward to going up to College Station to work with other Aggie grads.
The Century Tree – No Engagement photo on campus would be complete without a photo under this old Oak.
Very Intimate Engagement at The Houstonian with Caitlin’s Marine.
December 9, 2008We had the honor of photographing Caitlin and Alex for what was basically a homecoming for Alex. They had been apart for a long time because Alex was stationed in Iraq with the Marines. He was only able to return for a couple of weeks for the wedding. Caitlin really wanted to have some photos of them at the wedding so we told her that we would make it happen for someone serving our country. Alex flew in on Monday, we did the shoot on a Wednesday and pulled an all nighter getting them processed and ready for them to view. They chose their photos and we overnighted them back from the lab to have for the wedding on Saturday. It was CRAZY!!!!, but worth it.
Cait and Alex were planning to spend the first night of their honeymoon at The Houstonian Hotel so she wanted to have her e-session photos done on the grounds of the hotel. The hotel has some awesome grounds that created the perfect backdrop for our shoot. Cait and Alex really opened up and let us capture the love they have for each other. I think you can see it in their photos. We had a blast working with them and feel honored that they spent part of their limited time together with us. Thanks guys for the amazing shoot!
Very Intimate!!
Sparklers for your Grand Exit
December 3, 2008Last week Becca & I were chatting with Nickie who booked us for her wedding about using sparklers for her Grand Exit In the past, we have shot weddings where the sparklers looked really cool, ones where we were worried about the sparklers catching people on fire because they had such a huge flame, sparklers that smoked so bad you couldn’t see the bride and groom and weddings were the sparklers burnt out as quick as you lit them. After telling Nickie about all the different things that we have seen she asked where she could get sparklers that would work best for her wedding. I had no idea so we decided to go to the net and find out what we could. We came across several sites that looked to be among the best places to get information as well as actually purchase sparklers designed for weddings. They are available year round and legal to purchase for a wedding no matter what time of year it happens to be.
The first has been written up in Weddings magazine and looks to be a really good place to look first. They have alot of photos and some info on the use of their sparklers along with a really good plan to get them lit efficiently. Sparkle
The next one looks to be a good site as well and has alot of information on the Sparklers use. Skylighter
Hopefully this will help all of you who are considering their grand exit with sparklers. I know it will help make your photos that much better by using the best type of sparkler for your event.
Keep Smilin!!
Scott

Genifer and Andy and their Super Fun wedding!
November 19, 2008We had the privilege of shooting Genifer and Andy’s wedding recently. They are a ton of fun and we had an absolute blast working with them. Genifer is a gorgeous bride with a killer personality that kept us laughing all the time. The wedding was held at the St Peters Methodist Church in Katy, Texas. It has a really nice sanctuary and we were able to get some great shots. Andy is a graduate of Texas Tech University which is mine and Becca’s Alma Mater. Yea!!! Go TECH!!!!!!
