We had a blast shooting Kelli and Tommy’s engagement session at Ashelynn Manor, where they will be married in April. Kelli and Tommy are so much fun and great in front of the camera. Tommy is the brother of one of our previous brides, Katie Willeby Jacobs and we absolutely LOVE this family! The love that Kelli and Tommy share is so evident and they are SO cute and perfect together. Hope you enjoy the pictures as much as we did creating them. We are STOKED for Kelli’s upcoming Bridals and their upcoming wedding!!!!

Becca & I hope that all of you have had a very happy and safe Thanksgiving Holiday!
We would like to take a moment to acknowledge a special day in our country, Veterans Day! As we try to keep all of our fans and friends up to date with our lives and work through this blog, we feel we need to take a moment to acknowledge the men and women that have selflessly served our country. Becca & I have a bunch of of family and friends that are either Veterans in the military or currently active in the military and we appreciate their service. Recently, we attended the military funeral of one of my uncles at Ft Sam in San Antonio. This was not the first time I have attended a military burial, but it was the first time I had been to a Military Cemetery and it was an awesome sight. Seeing all of the markers lined up for as far as you can see was a very moving experience. It definitely helps you understand the number of people who have given their lives for our country. We are thankful for all of the Veterans who gave their time and their lives to ensure we have the freedoms and security that alot of us take for granted in this country. It is an honor for us to be able to acknowledge the sacrifice that our military personnel gave and are currently giving for us.
I would like to mention a local resource for our veterans which is the Lone Star Veterans Association. We heard about this group on the radio and thought it would be good to give them a plug here. They are an association that is not only for veterans of the old wars but they readily accept the Vets from our more recent conflicts. They are working to assist Vets as they transition from active duty back to civilian life.
Since this is primarily a photo blog we would like to add a couple of shots from a several of our Military Grooms. Becca and I thank all of you for your service.

As you have seen in the previous post, Erin and Ian’s destination wedding in Destin, Florida was featured in “Gulf Coast Bride“ magazine. The first words that came out of our mouth when we saw the Chapel In the Woods was, WOW!! This is a chapel in The Woodlands, Texas and was the most spectacular church and we couldn’t wait to get started. Kari was the calmest bride we had seen in a long time, and so sweet and BEAUTIFUL!! James and his crew were loads of fun and kept us laughing the entire time. Kari and James are the perfect couple and the love they share is so transparent. After the wedding we headed to several locations on the grounds of the church for group shots, and this wedding party was up for anything, including climbing on rocks and jumping off. The reception was held at Augusta Pines Golf Club, and was the perfect setting for dinner and dancing. We are honored that Kari and James chose us to be part of their special day and wish them a lifetime of love, happiness and joy for many years to come. May God bless you always!

We are SO proud to announce the marriage of our daughter, Ashton Leigh Caffrey to Robert Martin Lewis, Jr. They were married on Saturday, August 1, 2009 in a beautiful ceremony at First Baptist Church in Brookshire with reception following at Tuscany Villa in Katy Texas. Cristina, with Fresh Blooms of Houston did an AMAZING job on the flowers, they were SO BEAUTIFUL!!! Tony at Tuscany Villa, was the BEST!!! Mike, Cody and Suzy ROCKED the camera and we are so very glad we chose them to be the photographers. SO different being on the other side of the camera. We could not be happier in the man that Ashton chose to marry! He is everything that we wanted her to fall in love with since she was a little girl. They make an AWESOME couple and we know they will have a long happy marriage. We wish them all the best and may the road they travel together lead them to happiness, laughter and more love for each other everyday. The happy couple are honeymooning in beautiful Jamaica at the Sandals Negril. Can we say JEALOUS??????????? UMMMMMMMM just a bit!
Now that the wedding is over……….hopefully we will have more time to get caught up on our blog and keep everyone posted on what is going on with us.

It has been a crazy summer! Between the business and adding the planning for our oldest daughters wedding on August 1 has left us running behind on getting photos ready to post here. Sorry everyone! Hopefully we will free up some in a day or 2 to get some pics ready. We will let you know as soon as we get things rolling. Until then, we just got a message from some friends of ours in Brenham and they have an annual event that we thought was worth mentioning here. They are Bob and Jeanne at the Pleasant Hill Winery and they have their annual Crush For Fun grape stomp coming up the next few weeks. We have been to the winery and toured and tasted their wines and we love the Port wine they produce. VERY TASTY. Bec & I havent had the time to get up to the Crush for Fun yet but hopefully we can make it up this year. It just looks like a fun way to spend a day in the country and you get to make your own t-shirt with your foot prints from the wine. If you get a chance to make it up there give a shout out to Bob and Jeanne, the owners of the winery and maybe we will see ya there. Becca and I always tell brides in our consultations, whether they book with us or not, to stay in touch with your wedding vendors. It is something that will help make sure that you wont be disappointed on your wedding day. Here is an example. Our daughter, who is getting married in August, had planned to have their rehearsal dinner at a local Mexican restaurant in Katy, TX. (Vida Loca) They had good food, a room for an event like this and quoted the mother of the groom a good price for fajitas, margaritas, beer and desert. We asked if they needed a credit card to hold the reservation. They said no, everything was good. Fast forward to today. We like the place, so as we do with all of our favorite vendors we refer the restaurant to another mother of a groom. She calls us and tells us that the restaurant is now to busy and no longer books the room for parties. She mentions us and they tell her there are no reservations period. Bad News. We call and they verify that we no longer have a reservation of any sort and the manager that did it was no longer there. We ask if they are going to honor the quote and reservation. The answer is NO! WOW, that is bad and could have been a major disaster if 40 people had shown up for a reservation that was now thrown out with no intentions of being honored. I am annoyed but the MOG and the MOB are furious. I cant even imagine if they had found out the night of the rehearsal that there would be no reservation or room booked.
Yes, this really stinks but is exactly why we tell everyone to stay in contact with your vendors and make sure they still have you reserved for your date. It only takes a small amount of time to ensure that everything is going to go “right” on your wedding day. You dont want to be the bride crying while cutting your hastily store bought German Chocolate cake with congratulations written in blue because your baker wrote down the wrong day (true story here) or the manager of Vida Loca in Katy.

Do you Tweet? I Tweet. Just what the heck is a Tweet.? For those of you that just asked that question and think ole Scott has gone off the deep end, here is the answer. Tweets are the random messages you create on Twitter. They are just little updates of whatever you feel like writing in. Nothing much to them but they seem poised to be the “next big thing” and potentially uprooting the blog. Yea right. It sounds good though and Twitter says it so……
Anyway, since everyone says I should be on Twitter I signed up and have been tweeting off an on. It is just random stuff that I happen to be doing at the moment. Like: sitting here gathering papers for the accountant for taxes, or, its Monday and I dont want to do anything, or, that coffee just cant get done soon enough, or that I am blogging a brides photos or we are on the way to a killer wedding and we are stoked. Real important stuff mostly ;}. I actually set it up to update through my cell phone so you never know what kind of mischief I am into but I can send out a Tweet and everyone will know. At least those that decide to “follow ” me on Twitter will have a glimpse into the life and times of Scott.

Last week Becca & I were chatting with Nickie who booked us for her wedding about using sparklers for her Grand Exit In the past, we have shot weddings where the sparklers looked really cool, ones where we were worried about the sparklers catching people on fire because they had such a huge flame, sparklers that smoked so bad you couldn’t see the bride and groom and weddings were the sparklers burnt out as quick as you lit them. After telling Nickie about all the different things that we have seen she asked where she could get sparklers that would work best for her wedding. I had no idea so we decided to go to the net and find out what we could. We came across several sites that looked to be among the best places to get information as well as actually purchase sparklers designed for weddings. They are available year round and legal to purchase for a wedding no matter what time of year it happens to be.
The first has been written up in Weddings magazine and looks to be a really good place to look first. They have alot of photos and some info on the use of their sparklers along with a really good plan to get them lit efficiently. Sparkle

Hopefully this will help all of you who are considering their grand exit with sparklers. I know it will help make your photos that much better by using the best type of sparkler for your event.

We had the privilege of shooting Genifer and Andy’s wedding recently. They are a ton of fun and we had an absolute blast working with them. Genifer is a gorgeous bride with a killer personality that kept us laughing all the time. The wedding was held at the St Peters Methodist Church in Katy, Texas. It has a really nice sanctuary and we were able to get some great shots. Andy is a graduate of Texas Tech University which is mine and Becca’s Alma Mater. Yea!!! Go TECH!!!!!!

I cant believe that I have been away from the blog for so long. Sorry everyone. We have been pretty busy with shoots and trying to balance our busy schedule with our Daughters and their crazy schedules. I guess the blog ended up on the back burner. Anyway, I am going to try to be more vigilant in keeping it up to date with more of what we are up to. Hope everyone had a great summer and it looks like fall is here. Love the weather.
Recently we had a local magazine talk to us about submitting some photos for their piece they were writing about weddings in Katy Texas. They told us there was no guarantee that they would use any of the photos selected. Fortunately, they thought a couple of our photos were worthy of printing in their article. We were really surprised and super excited when we found out we had made it. Unfortunately we didnt get the cover as that went to the magazines staff photographer but we did get 3 photos included. If you get a chance, pick up a copy of the Katy Magazine (I believe it is free) and look for the following shots.

Hello everyone. Hope all of you are having a great summer. We have been really busy with weddings and have fallen behind in keeping you updated here. On top of all of that we made the decision that we needed to head in a new direction with our website and it needed to be something that was easier to deal with and keep updated. I took a week off of our production and worked on getting the new site off the ground. It is online now and currently has some new photos within it. We really like the site and the size of the photos that we are allowed to use. So far everyone that has seen it has given us very positive feedback. We are planning to add some galleries that will include photos from specific weddings as well as a couple of albums that we have created. Hopefully that will be done in about a week. Take a look at it and be sure to let us know what you think of the new site.

Awhile back we did a shoot with one of our future brides Caitlin. Her fiance, Alex, is a Marine stationed in Iraq and she wanted to send him a nice photo of herself for his birthday. We had to keep everything top secret so it would be a surprise which is part of the reason for the delay in posting it here. So we took Caitlin to a local spot to get some some nice shots of her. The entire time she kept telling us how she takes terrible photos. After we started shooting, I had to stop and ask her if she was sure she had never modeled before. She was giving us some smoldering looks that just had to be for Alex. The shots turned out great and we were stoked to hear Alex’s reaction. Caitlin couldn’t keep a secret and spilled the beans so Alex knew they were coming, he just didn’t know what they looked like. We heard he was pretty excited about the photos. We are praying for him to get back home safely and be able to do their engagements and then their wedding. Take a look and feel free to comment on the photos.
Most of our time outside of photographing weddings and other fun stuff is spent chasing our daughters around the world as they play soccer. Our oldest is a scholarship player at the University of the Incarnate Word and our youngest plays in high school and for a nationally ranked club team in the Houston area. This last weekend the youngest daughter’s team played for the South Texas State Cup and won. So they became the South Texas State Champs and will be slotted to play in the regional tournament in North Carolina. We had alot of fun watching them play even though it was HOT outside. Mid 90′s in Houston can be brutal. Here are a few shots of her and her team.

They have another huge tournament this weekend which is one of the largest college recruiting tournaments in the area. Just wanted to share my daughters success with all of you.

Last week we had the opportunity to photograph Julie for her bridals. She was a blast and really opened up for us. She even walked out onto the rocks that led to a small waterfall at the location. I am really excited that she did because the shots were awesome. It is unfortunate that we cant post any of the them right now because we had some of the most colorful sunsets I have seen in awhile. After the wedding next month I will get a few of them up so you can see how pretty Julie was and how fortunate we were with the location.
This past weekend we had 2 E-sessions and took some awesome shots as well. We will get a few of Ebony and Aaron posted tonight and in a few days we will get some shots of Genifer and Andy posted. Our next shoot will take Ashton and Robert to an English red phone booth and Mercer Arboretum then in another shoot will be with Kelly and Michael at sunset on the beach. We are really looking forward to this weekend and it looks like the weather is going to be perfect.
